The IAL’s Voice Institute is a four-day intensive training course in state-of-the-art methods of alaryngeal speech restoration and related topics for speech-language pathologists and graduate students. Laryngectomees who are in need of professional assistance in developing communication skills (Voice Institute Pupils) participate in speech therapy sessions. Laryngectomees who at least two years after surgery and who have acquired excellent speaking skills (Laryngectomee Trainees), receive instruction and training to develop skills in assisting fellow laryngectomees as peer counselors. The IAL’s Annual Meeting features a three-day educational and social program for laryngectomees and those who love them.

In additional to the informational sessions, the Annual Meeting includes the yearly business meeting of the organization, during which Delegates from the member clubs elect the Officers and members of the Board of Directors.
