Aloha kakou . . .(May there be friendship between us) and welcome to our Home Page. Hui ‘Olelo Hawai’i (Speech Club of Hawaii) is a member of the International Association of Laryngectomees and affiliate of the American Cancer Society, Hawaii Pacific, Inc. Our motto "Mai Laila Ola Pau ke Puu" literally translated means "there is life after the larynx" and was coined by our Past President, Frank Deam.

Some information on our activities are:

  • Visitation Program: Provide support to laryngectomees and their families through pre and post-op visitations.
  • Tobacco Education: Members respond to requests to the American Cancer Society to provide speakers to schools and other organizations to conduct classes on tobacco control and education.
  • Provide social outlet for laryngectomees and their families and friends by arranging for special nights at local historical sites, museums and other activities.
  • Publicize activities and articles of interest to laryngectomees through the Hui Oleo Hawaii Newsletter, published every other month.
  • Annual Christmas Party. The highlight of the social events of the year. Friends from as far away as New Jersey attend this annual function.
